1. An American team led by American Bioengineering firm, Arup Technologies, will develop a new biosimilar for a vaccine in the USA to reduce the risk of autism, a vaccine-autism alliance has said.
2. American Roche is working on developing an antibody against human pathogen influenza that will prevent symptoms of the highly infectious virus if used in vaccines.
3. European vaccine giant EpiPen is testing the anti-infections in its vaccine against measles, mumps, rubella and rotavirus for use in the USA.
4. The US Food and Drug Administration is now evaluating the hepatitis B vaccine against hepatitis B in the US. This includes some of the hepatitis B vaccines and would be the latest step in the elimination of the disease from the US market.
In a statement following the meeting, Roche said: "We are pleased to be continuing to work with Arup Technologies to develop novel vaccines that address the needs of patients across seven decades of public health efforts, including in the developing world."
As this story was first reported, Arup was already planning to develop other innovative drugs for autism, including a novel anti-tumor drug for autism-related conditions, with the hope that they could be developed in the USA at scale.
