technology ka matlab, an MIT Media Lab computer science doctoral program in computer science, is launching an online course called Project Blue Shield—a collaborative research effort in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology MIT to develop tools to help students learn the basics of wireless services. The project will build on a previous collaborative project called the Bluetooth Project, which was published in July 2016, which aims to develop the first commercial mobile connectivity technology, known as Bluetooth 6.4, for homes and businesses. Using Bluetooth technology, researchers from MIT will begin to test ways to build an integrated control system that will allow them to make automatic wireless communication calls, without touching a wireless device; the researchers will begin using sensors that track mobile phones through sensors on a smartphone to develop new wireless connections.
"We don't just want to have wireless service [with Wi-Fi], or that it can easily be built into an integrated system... We need to know how you use it and where it can be used," says Michael O'Bryan, project lead for Project Blue Shield. It will be "completely open source" when built, with no advertising or other proprietary software or tools.
To test the technology, O'Bryan uses a variety of methods—from sensors around cars to sensors on the ground to various other devices used to transmit signals—to connect wireless equipment to a smart phone's receiver, as shown in Figure 2. A smartphone app can also be installed inside a car or other electronic infrastructure.
