The new location brings Starbucks' brand to many new markets that have recently been hit by competition from the likes of Apple. They want to be there first before they leave. Starbucks is in the midst of its merger with Nordstrom and has been doing business with all three stores.

When the move for Starbucks opened last May — a week before Starbucks opened shop on Broadway — the three remaining stores were at a different location at this point.

Starbucks did not want to leave its headquarters at Broadway Plaza at the moment.

"We don't want to have another Starbucks on Broadway in the future. We're here right now and we're happy to be here for a long time," said Jim Lauterhoff, president/CEO of Nordstrom, and chief operating officer of Starbucks.

In the meantime, workers from the three remaining stores will leave soon, he said.

"We're seeing the best business of our entire company and that's what drives us forward," Lauterhoff said.
